***Names released in fatal Isanti crash

ISANTI- Two drivers were pronounced dead at the scene of a car crash early Wednesday, Feb. 3.

Travis Joshua Kamann, 29 of North Branch, and Max James Bartelt, 34, of Cambridge died in the crash.

At 5:38 a.m., the Isanti County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a two-vehicle accident on County Road 5 near the junction with Jodrell Drive NE in North Branch Township located east of the city of Isanti.

Upon arrival officers found two vehicles with heavy front end damage.

Kamann was the driver of a 2001 Mitsubishi Galant.

Bartelt was driving a 2000 Buick Lesabre.

The cause of the crash has not been determined as of this time. The accident is under investigation by the Isanti County Sheriff’s Office and the Minnesota State Patrol Accident Reconstruction Unit.

Kamann worked at G and K Machining as a machinist. He is survived by his fiancee Crystal Novotny; children Shawn and Alyssa Kamann. He enjoyed taking his son fishing, spending time with his family and was an avid football fan, with Tampa Bay being his favorite team.

Bartelt was employed at RTL Construction. He leaves behind his wife, Tanya, and four children.

Karate was a large part of Bartelt’s life. He had just earned his black belt which he would have received the Saturday after his passing. He enjoyed hunting and was a member of Pheasants Forever and Ducks Unlimited.
